Yield: The annual rate of return on an investment, which is a ratio of the instrument's income compared to its current market price. Two commonly quoted yields are current yield (or running yield) and yield to maturity. A bond's yield is inversely related to its price. When a bond's yield drops, the price of the bond rises.
