FIX: A messaging standard for pre-trade and trade messages that was started by a small group of US Investment Managers and Brokers. This group wanted real-time connectivity and felt that SWIFT's store and forward approach was too slow, and that SWIFT's ability to generate new message standards was too slow to meet the needs of the Front Office.
