Ex-dividend: When a stock begins to trade Ex-dividend, the holder does not receive the recently declared, but not yet paid, dividend. Once declared by the Board of Directors, dividends are payable on a predetermined date to all of the shareholders who are identified on the books as of a specified date, which is called the record date.
